Carter and Lankford launch CPA firm

Nashville accountants and consultants Lucy R. Carter and Sara S. Lankford will leave Horne LLP on June 30 to launch their own accounting firm - Carter, Lankford CPAs. Carter is partner-in-charge of the Nashville office of Horne LLP. Lankford, who is also a partner, is director of Horne's physician services group in Nashville. All members of the Nashville physician services group will join Carter, Lankford CPAs.

Carter, Lankford CPAs has leased a suite of offices on the first floor at 1114 17th Ave. S. in the Music Row area. The 2,646 square feet of space is large enough to house the firm's initial staff and accommodate anticipated staff additions.

Carter, Lankford CPAs will provide accounting, assurance, tax, payroll, compliance and coding, and consulting services to health care providers, physician practice groups, and professional services organizations. The firm also will serve high net worth individuals. Among the Horne professional staff members who will join Carter, Lankford CPAs as of July 1 are Carolyn Avery, Sandy Brooks, Jonathan Grigsby and Nancy Ruffner.

Carter and Lankford joined Horne in January 2001 when their firm Carter, Young, Lankford & Roach P.C. merged its practice with Horne. Carter, Young, Lankford & Roach, established in 1985, was one of the premier service providers to the Tennessee health care community.

Helzberg Diamonds opens at CoolSprings

Helzberg Diamonds opened its newest store May 20 at the CoolSprings Galleria. The store is the company's first in the Nashville area and part of an aggressive national expansion plan for the retail chain. Owned by Berkshire Hathaway Inc., Helzberg Diamonds currently operates 265 stores across the United States.
