Atkinson hires two

Atkinson Public Relations has added two staff members, senior counselor Karen Baker and associate account executive Jenny Barker.

Before joining Atkinson, Baker was director of client public relations at The Buntin Group. She earned a degree in arts administration from the University of Cincinnati and a degree in music from Ohio State University.

Barker joined Atkinson as a full-time employee after serving as an intern at the firm. She earned her bachelor's degree in public relations from Lipscomb University.

Easter Seals hires new regional director

Karen Woulfe has been named Easter Seals' new regional director for the West Tennessee area.

Most recently deputy regional director for the Western region, division of mental retardation, Woulfe also served as a regional monitor coordinator to monitor the care of developmentally disabled individuals in community settings.

Woulfe is a graduate of Quincy Junior College in Massachusetts, and holds a nursing degree from Quincy City Hospital of Nursing.

Mogan, Usmani join bank

Fifth Third Bank in Tennessee has added Alice Mogan and Sam Usmani as banking center managers.

Mogan joins the bank as vice president and banking center manager of the Murphy Road location in the West End neighborhood. She was most recently employed as a vice president for Bank of America.

She holds a degree in business finance from Tennessee Technology University.

Usmani is assistant vice president and banking center manager of the downtown location on the corner of Fourth Avenue and Union Street. He was most recently a manager for First Tennessee for more than seven years.

He earned his degree from the University of St. Thomas in Minnesota.

Meagher achieves ABR status

Becky Meagher of Crye-Leike Realtors has been named an accredited buyer representative (ABR) by the Real Estate Buyer's Agent Council, an affiliate of the National Association of Realtors.

This distinction is signified by the ABR designation, the benchmark of excellence in real estate buyer representation.

Meagher is a broker and multi-million dollar producer with over 18 years of real estate experience.

Nashville Commercial hires three

Buist Richardsonwill serve as a principal and industrial broker specializing in leasing and sales for Nashville Commercial. He is a graduate of Centre College.

Mike Thames will specialize in retail brokerage. He previously developed restaurant sites in Texas, Arizona, Oklahoma, Alabama, Florida and Tennessee. He is a graduate of the University of Alabama, a CCIM affiliate and NARA member.

Sallee Wise will serve as a leasing/property manager, specializing in office building management, leasing and tenant build outs. She previously worked with Conoco Inc., now known as ConocoPhillips, and Dollar General Corp.

Jay Frazer will assist with office and industrial transactions. He is a Belmont University graduate.

Children's Theatre promotes Forester

Nashville Children's Theatre (NCT) has promoted Susan Forester to box office/administrative assistant.

She will also serve as the office coordinator for ASSITEJ/USA, an international organization of children's theatre professionals, which is headquartered at NCT.

Forester, a graduate of religious studies from the University of Virginia, began working with NCT as a part-time assistant house manager.

Wheelers join Realty Executives

Shannon and Misty Wheeler have joined Realty Executives Fine Homes of Brentwood.

Shannon, a licensed real estate broker, and Misty, an affiliate, are former owners of Titan Mortgage Co., where Shannon served as vice president.

Rudd earns broker's license

Sheree Rudd of Crye-Leike Realtors has received her broker's license after successfully passing the real estate broker licensure examination in August 2004.

Rudd, a full-time affiliate broker in the Bellevue office, is an accredited buyer representative (ABR). She is a member of the National, Tennessee and Greater Nashville Associations of Realtors.

Iasis promotes three

IASIS Healthcare LLC has promoted Brian Loflin, Eddie Gadsey and Keith Bagby.

Loflin, now chief information officer, previously served as manager of information systems (IS) operations for IASIS. Loflin was also employed as a system consultant for Superior Consultant Co.

Gadsey is responsible for overseeing the technical development of the network, and leads all facility IS directors. Prior to joining IASIS, Gadsey was the network manager for PhyCor Corp.

Bagby, director of financial IS, is responsible for overseeing the functional support and technical development for Lawson Software. Previously, he was the corporate assistant controller. Prior to joining IASIS, he was the director of accounting at Word Entertainment.

Crye-Leike hires Ryan

Crye-Leike Realtors has named Mickey Ryan managing broker and sales manager of its Brentwood East branch office.

He will continue to list and sell real estate in the Greater Nashville and Brentwood areas, specializing in residential and luxury properties.

For the past four years, Ryan was an account executive for American Home Shield Corp. Previously he was an affiliate broker of Crye-Leike Realtors and served as its recruitment director.

Mayden take ABA post

Attorney Barbara Mendel Mayden, a member of the law firm Bass, Berry & Sims PLC, is now chair of the American Bar Association Section of Business Law. She will oversee initiatives, activities, educational programs and meetings.

Mayden, a member of the Corporate and Securities Practice Area at the firm, has been editor of The Business Lawyer, and served on the editorial board of Business Law Today magazine.

She is the third woman to be elected chair of the Section of Business Law, which dates back to 1938.

Norman joins Cracker Barrel

Carol Norman has joined Cracker Barrel Old Country Store as vice president & general merchandise manager.

She will oversee all aspects of the retail side of Cracker Barrel's business, including buying and planning allocation.

Norman comes to Cracker Barrel following executive level positions with Claire's Accessories, Payless Shoes and Pier One Imports.

Chandler takes helm for Ingram Book

James E. Chandler has been named president and chief executive officer of Ingram Book Group.

Chandler, most recently chief commercial officer, has been an executive of Ingram Book since 1997. He joined the company as president of Ingram International Inc.

Prior to joining Ingram, Mr. Chandler held a variety of executive positions within the book industry with HarperCollins Publishers, Bantam Doubleday Dell and Barnes & Noble.

American Constructors adds staff

American Constructors Inc. has added Joe Braden and

Molly Swenson to its staff.

Braden joins American as a project manager. A Montgomery Bell Academy and Vanderbilt University graduate, his most recent tenure was with Turner Construction Co.

Swenson, a graduate of Auburn University with a degree in building construction, joins the firm as project coordinator.

Norman, Wells named Nursing Fellows

Linda Norman, D.S.N., senior associate dean for Academics at Vanderbilt School of Nursing, and Nancy Wells, D.S.N., director of Nursing Research at Vanderbilt University Medical Center, have been named fellows in the American Academy of Nursing (AAN).

The AAN consists of 1,500 nurse leaders who make extraordinary contributions to nursing and have been identified by their peers to be the best and brightest professionals in nursing.

Stead to lead National Library of medicine board

William Stead, M.D., associate vice chancellor for Health Affairs and director of the Informatics Center, has been elected chairman of the board of regents of the National Library of Medicine.

Stead will steer the board toward adding space and construction funding, and long-range planning.

Irvin receives Star Award

Stephanie Irvin, IIDA, a commercial interior designer with Hart Freeland Roberts Inc. architects and engineers, was recently presented the Star Award by the Tennessee Chapter of the International Interior Design Association (IIDA). It is the highest honor bestowed by the Tennessee Chapter and is given to just one person in the state each year.

The award was presented to Irvin "in recognition of outstanding professionalism and dedication to the Tennessee Chapter of IIDA."

Savage joins Realty Executives

Leigh Savage has joined Realty Executives Fine Homes of Brentwood. Savage most recently was affiliated with Coldwell Banker Barnes Real Estate. A native of Birmingham, Ala., Savage has also resided in West Palm Beach, Fla., and Huntsville, Ala.

Horne CPA Group adds supervisor

L. Ryan Hales has joined Horne CPA Group as a supervisor in the firm's health care group. Prior to joining Horne CPA Group, Hales was a staff accountant with the firm of Stout Stuart McGowen & King LLP in Burlington, N.C.

Hales has more than seven years of accounting experience in auditing and general accounting, business consulting, tax planning and preparation, and estate and trust planning. He is a graduate of Western Kentucky University with a B.S. degree in accounting.
