Ingram adapts to the market

The flurry of small and medium-sized publishers trying to get books into the crowded marketplace is presenting new opportunities for Ingram Book Co. of La Vergne.

Ingram recently set up a new subsidiary aimed at publishers that want to concentrate on publishing and leave fulfillment and distribution to the experts.

Launched in March, Publisher Services Inc. charges clients a fee to deliver their books to retailers. Not only will Ingram ship the book, it also will handle the ordering, invoicing, customer service and other back-office functions.
