BABC adds associate attorney

Bradley Arant Boult Cummings has hired health care attorney Travis G. Lloyd as an associate in the Nashville office.

The hire marks a return to Bradley Arant for Lloyd, who was with the firm prior to serving most recently as an associate for Bass, Berry & Sims PLC.

“We are pleased to welcome Travis back to Bradley Arant Boult Cummings and our Health Care Practice Group,” Beau Grenier, firm chairman, said in a release.

Lloyd, who will work with group chair Jay Hardcastle, will provide counsel to health care industry clients on various regulatory matters in the context of both day-to-day operations and business transactions. 

Lloyd holds a Juris Doctorate from Georgia State University College of Law, an MPH from Harvard University’s School of Public Health and a BS from Davidson College.

SPR promotes McGowan, Wilson

Seigenthaler Public Relations announced today its has promoted Philip R. McGowan to vice president of clients services and Justin H. Wilson to director of client services.

Formerly director of client services for SPR, McGowan develops and directs marketing and branding campaigns in his role as vice president. McGowan has expertise in developing and executing public policy programs with experience in representing clients within the energy and environmental sectors. 

McGowan joined SPR in 2004 after working as project assistant for the John Seigenthaler Chair of Excellence in First Amendment Studies at Middle Tennessee State University. He earned a master’s degree in mass communication from MTSU and a bachelor’s degree in mass communication from Auburn University.

Formerly an account supervisor, Wilson specializes in creating strategic media and marketing programs for companies in the professional services, financial and real estate sectors.

Before joining SPR in 2010, Wilson was a senior coordinator for the Political Affairs and Federation Relations Department of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce in Washington, D.C. He also was the head of internal communication for the Office of the Undersecretary for Public Diplomacy and Public Affairs at the U.S. Department of State. Wilson received his undergraduate degree in marketing and English from Auburn University.

Magna Bank hires Sinclair

Magna Bank has hired a former Tennessee Housing Development Agency executive to lead its mortgage operations in Middle Tennessee.

As senior vice president and production manager at Memphis-based Magna, Laura Sinclair will head up a team that includes eight other loan officers covering the region. She is based at the lender’s Hendersonville office.

Sinclair had been chief program officer at THDA, where she oversaw the Single Family Mortgage Revenue Bond, Low Income Housing Tax Credits, Hardest Hit Fund and Housing Choice Voucher programs. Combined, those initiatives put to work more than $600 million across the state in 2011.

“Laura is going to have a huge impact on our business in and around Nashville,” said Lisa Reid, executive VP and mortgage division manager at Magna. “She is well known for her work with the mortgage industry in Tennessee. Laura will identify opportunities in Nashville to help us grow our Middle Tennessee presence.”

Sinclair also has served on the Federal Home Loan Bank of Cincinnati Advisory Council and the Genworth Mortgage Insurance Advisory Board. She has almost three decades of industry experience.

In addition to Hendersonville, Magna — which sold its Maryland Farms retail branch to Reliant Bank in 2009 — runs local mortgage offices in Cool Springs, Mt. Juliet, Murfreesboro and Smyrna. The bank says its SBA specialty group is the second-largest in the state.

Harpeth Capital names Dennis to board

Harpeth Capital has added to its advisory board Bob Dennis, the chairman, president and CEO of shoe and hat retailer Genesco.

Dennis, left, has been CEO of Nashville-based Genesco since mid-2008. He had come to the company four years earlier as head of Hat World, for which Genesco paid $179 million. In the past five years, Genesco’s hat business has grown organically and via acquisitions to $791 million from $379 million.

“We are excited to have Bob join our Advisory Board,” said Chuck Byrge, president and managing director of Harpeth Capital. “His knowledge of the retail and consumer sector as well as his commitment to Nashville are a wonderful fit. We are delighted to have Bob participating in the growth and success of Harpeth Capital.”

Other members of Harpeth’s advisory board include firm co-founders Sam Bartholomew and Clayton and Stuart McWhorter as well as Marty Dickens, Harry Jacobson, Jim Lackey and Jim Bradford.

Separately, Harpeth leaders said they have recruited a veteran of the private-equity placement sector based in Boston. Charlie Woodworth, right, has been named the second managing director of Harpeth Fund Advisors. He is the former co-founder of BerchWood Partners, a global private equity placement firm. Before that, he was a partner at Brittany Capital Group and at Lens, a shareholder activist fund, among others.

Harpeth Fund Advisors was formed late last year when Byrge and his team recruited two other professionals from BerchWood.

First Freedom names O’Leary customer service manager

Shannon O’Leary has been named customer service manager in First Freedom’s Mt. Juliet office, according to John Lancaster, president and CEO of First Freedom Bank.

O’Leary will oversee all customer service activities for the bank’s Providence office. She was previously a customer service representative.

"Shannon is an extremely valuable member of the First Freedom team,” said Kenny Beavers, senior vice president and director of retail banking at First Freedom Bank. “She is an experienced banker with a keen focus on our customers’ needs, making her a great fit for this position.”

Prior to joining First Freedom, she worked for Independent Bank in Memphis.

Ryan Search & Consulting adds Blackwell

Ryan Search & Consulting is expanding its executive staff to help clients attract C-level leaders needed to manage hospitals and organizations during the implementation of the Affordable Care Act, the Franklin-based firm announced today.

Marianne Blackwell, a 25-year human resources veteran of the health care industry, has been promoted from consultant to market leader of the firm’s health care practice in order to lead the effort. Other key hires include Michelle Christy, retained executive search manager; Sarah Munsell, consultant; and Kevin Weimer, consultant.

Blackwell’s focus will be on developing partnerships with companies to better identify their leadership needs and finding the right candidates to fill them. An MBA graduate of the Owen Graduate School of Management at Vanderbilt University, Blackwell has spent her entire career in recruitment and leadership positions at Vanderbilt, Rehability Health Services and Vanderbilt University Medical Center. She also owns and manages a Hereford beef cattle operation in a multi-generational farm in Rutherford County.

Pinnacle adds Lassiter

Veteran wealth manager Lynn Lassiter Kendrick has joined Pinnacle Financial Partners as a senior vice president and financial advisor.

Lassiter Kendrick comes to Pinnacle from SunTrust, where she spent 27 years and was most recently first vice president and a client advisor in the bank’s private wealth management group. She was named last year to SunTrust’s President’s Team, which recognized the company’s top performers.

“Lynn is a trusted advisor for the many clients she has served over the years,” said Larry Whisenant, area manager of Pinnacle’s client services in Nashville. “Her knowledge of banking in this market will be a tremendous asset to Pinnacle.”

Lassiter Kendrick holds Series 7 and 65 licenses, is licensed in life and health insurance and is a certified cash manager. She earned a bachelor’s degree in journalism from the University of Georgia and an MBA with a concentration in finance from Georgia State University.

Word of the hiring of Lassiter Kendrick comes just days after Pinnacle said it had recruited from Regions Bank longtime middle-market lender Tom Dozier. The 13-year-old bank has in the past two years stepped up its push to lure top talent from competitors, particularly large regional players like SunTrust and Regions, which has helped Pinnacle grow its assets to more than $5 billion.

Hyatt names two to leadership team

White Lodging Services announced today that Bill Farrell will join the Hyatt Place Nashville/Downtown leadership team as general manager.

Previously, Farrell was the general manager at the Hilton Garden Inn Downtown/Old Market in Omaha, Neb.

Farrell, who will team with Director of Sales Nicole Nielsen, joined Merrillville, Ind.-based White Lodging in 2001 as front desk manager at the Courtyard by Marriott in Fort Wayne, Ind. Over the years, Farrell has held six general manager positions in company hotels in Texas, Kentucky, Tennessee and Indiana.

“I'm excited to be joining the White Lodging team in Nashville and proud to be part of this exciting hotel,” Farrell said in a release. “Nashville has so much to offer and with the addition of the new Music City Center and the Hyatt Place in downtown, we look forward to building on the city's great reputation and creating a world class experience for all of those that visit.”

Nicole Nielsen, who joined the Hyatt Place Nashville/Downtown team in December 2012, is also looking forward to making an impact in Nashville.

“There is not a more dynamic market to be in than downtown Nashville and I couldn't be more excited to be part of the opening of this property and part of the White Lodging team,” said Nielsen.  “It’s very exciting to bring the Hyatt brand back into the downtown market and to be a bigger part of the Nashville community.”

Prior, Nielsen was the director of group sales at the Sheraton Nashville Downtown. Nielson brings sales experience from other properties such as the Radisson Stapleton Plaza Hotel in Denver, Colo., Wyndham Hotel in Colorado Springs, Colo. and the Wyndham Garden Hotels in both Pittsburgh and Nashville.

The 255-room hotel broke ground in July 2012 and is slated to open later this year. The hotel will be owned by affiliates of Host Hotels & Resorts, Inc., and White Lodging and is the first new select service construction venture for Host.
