Parallon adds CIO

Parallon Business Solutions today announced it has appointed John Guevara to the newly created position of chief information officer.

Guevara will lead the company’s implementation of information technology enterprise services, applications and processes, and report directly to Parallon President and Chief Executive Officer Michael O’Boyle.

Guevara offers more than 25 years of leadership experience in technology infrastructure, information security and business support systems. He has worked with technology and Fortune 500 companies, including Microsoft, Intermec, Delphi and Siemens Corp. Most recently, he served as senior vice president of enterprise services and CIO at Allscripts.

“John has successfully led complex information technology strategies in a number of highly respected corporate environments and has delivered outstanding results,” O’Boyle said in a release. “Under his leadership, Parallon will leverage IT to foster business growth while improving the reliability and effectiveness of the company’s information systems to produce breakthrough performance.”

Guevara holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in computer science management from St. Thomas University in Miami and completed advanced studies in management and strategy at Wharton and Fuqua business schools at the University of Pennsylvania and Duke University, respectively.

Headquartered in Franklin, Parallon provides health care business and operational services. In 2015, the company will move its offices to the West End Summit development currently under construction in Midtown.

Bridgestone names Boggs director of motorsports

Bridgestone Americas Tire Operations has recruited a motorsports marketing veteran to lead its relationships with the IndyCar Series.

Lisa Boggs this week joined Nashville-based Bridgestone Americas as director of motorsports, succeeding 38-year company veteran Al Speyer, who in late 2012 said he would retire this year. Previously, Boggs had been with Edelman Public Relations for seven years, working on IndyCar and NASCAR programs for companies including IZOD, Office Depot, Shell, Armor All and STP. She also oversaw the 100th Anniversary Indianapolis 500 PR campaign.

In her now role, Boggs is managing, directing, planning and coordinating all of Bridgestone Americas’ motorsport and motorsport marketing activities.

“Lisa’s strong marketing and public relations experience will be a huge advantage to us in enhancing our market presence and leveraging our motorsports partnerships,” said Phil Pacsi, vice president of customer marketing and training at Bridgestone Americas. “Her expertise will keep us moving forward as we work to energize our existing loyal fan base as well as engage a new generation of fans in the sport.”

Separately, Bridgestone also has promoted Dale Harrigle from section manager of race tire development to chief engineer and manager of race tire development. Harrigle began his career at Bridgestone in 1992 and has been involved with the racing program for more than 18 years, helping design all types of tires for the IZOD IndyCar Series. Pacsi said his experience “makes him the ideal technical leader to carry our legacy in motorsports forward.”

Frost Brown Todd adds Pennington

Law firm Frost Brown Todd has brought on board Tom Pennington, a veteran surety and construction attorney who also has worked on financing and restructuring transactions.

Pennington began to practice law in 1981 after graduating from Vanderbilt University School of Law. Most recently, he was a partner at Watt Tieder Hoffar & Fitzgerald in McLean, Va. Before that, he worked at Manier & Herod and the former Stokes Bartholomew Evans & Petree, which is now Adams and Reese.

“With the addition of Tom to our team here at Frost Brown Todd, we can assure our clients’ needs are met while we continue to expand and strengthen our construction practice in the Nashville area,” said Terrence Brookie, leader of Frost Brown Todd’s construction practice group.

The Nashville office of Frost Brown Todd is located in The Pinnacle at Symphony Place and is home to about 25 attorneys. The firm has been steadily adding to its local staff in the past year, most notably by absorbing MGLAW.

Fifth Third promotes trio

Fifth Third Bank has promoted one commercial and two retail employees within its Nashville affiliate:

Julian Flournoy has been promoted to financial center manager for the Metro Center Banking Center. Flournoy previously served as manager for the Hickory Village Banking Center, located at 5820 Nolensville Road.  He has been with the company since August 2008.

Travis Dumke has been promoted to financial center manager for the Hickory Village Banking Center. Dumke has been with Fifth Third Bank since February 2010, serving as a personal banker at the Nippers Corner Banking Center in South Nashville.

Katie Burt has been promoted to client advisor supervisor for the commercial division effective June 1. Burt has been with the bank four years, serving at a treasury management specialist.

Life Care Center taps Cox as on-site physician

Life Care Physician Services, LLC, a subsidiary of Life Care Centers of America, has named Dr. Mitch Cox as on-site physician at Life Care Center of Old Hickory Village.

Cox was hired as part of Life Care’s initiative to place physicians in each of Life Care Centers of America’s 26 buildings in Tennessee.

In his new position, Cox will work with the facility’s interdisciplinary team, facility medical director and other attending physicians in caring for each patient.

Cox most recently served as a hospitalist and nocturnist at SkyRidge Medical Center in Cleveland, Tenn., a position he held for more than five years. Prior to that appointment, he was a private internal medicine practitioner in Winchester, Tenn.

Board certified in internal medicine, Cox is a member of the American Medical Association.

Cox earned his doctor of medicine degree from the American University of the Caribbean School of Medicine in St. Maarten. He completed his residency at Memorial Medical Center in Savannah, Ga.

Decosimo adds Lockwood

Public accounting and advisory firm Decosimo has added Rich Lockwood as an assurance principal in its Nashville office.

Lockwood comes to Decosimo with more than 20 years of accounting, auditing and advisory experience serving both public and private company clients from industries such as construction, government, health care, financial services, higher education, investment partnerships, manufacturing and distribution, as well as not-for-profit organizations.

Lockwood serves as an accounting resource through the Nashville Entrepreneur Center and Jumpstart Foundry’s mentor program for startup businesses. His involvement as a knowledge expert mentor enhances Decosimo’s support of Nashville’s emerging businesses through strategic corporate sponsorships with the EC, Nashville Capital Network and the Nashville Post ’s 2013 entrepreneurial issue in.

Lockwood is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the Institute of Internal Auditors and the Tennessee Society of Certified Public Accountants. He serves as the Board Intern for the Nashville Children’s Theatre. He is a past member of the TSCPA’s Construction Conference Committee and Government Committee.

Decosimo’s Nashville office has added two new principals within the last six months with Lockwood and Larry Felts joining principals Ken Lowery, Ronald Williams, Mike Vaden and Jennifer Lane.

FirstBank adds VP of treasury management sales

Lexington, Tenn.-based FirstBank has added David Cherry as vice president of treasury management sales for the company’s downtown Nashville Commerce location.

In addition, Jeff Tunks has joined FirstBank Mortgage Partners as a mortgage banker in the Mt. Juliet mortgage office and Ronald Skiscim has joined as a commercial loan review officer. Skiscim will be located in the downtown Nashville location.
