Nissan headquarters to move to Middle Tennessee

Nissan announced this morning that it will build a $70 million headquarters in the Franklin/Cool Springs area and move 1,300 employees to Middle Tennessee from Southern California.

The announcement was made by Nissan officials and Gov. Phil Bredesen at the Capital.

Nissan expects to start moving employees to Middle Tennessee in 2006. Its headquarters should be finished in 2008.

The headquarters staff is responsible for all operations in the United States, Canada and Mexico including automotive styling, consumer and corporate financing, and engineering.
