Metro police Monday afternoon arrested a 17-year-old for allegedly shooting at and injuring an 11-year-old boy.

The shooting happened late Saturday night outside of a club at 2430 Jefferson Street. The teenaged suspect was charged in juvenile court with aggravated assault Monday.

According to Metro police, an event for teens was being held at the club when two groups of people got into an argument inside the club. Club security sprayed those involved with pepper spray and told them to leave. Outside someone pulled a pistol and began firing.

Later police were called to the 11-year-old’s Blank Street home, where he had been driven from Jefferson Street by a cousin. He was wounded in the left calf, treated at Vanderbilt Children’s Hospital and released Sunday.

Police said a 21-year-old man went to Nashville General Hospital Saturday with a gunshot wound to his right leg from the same incident. He was treated and released.

Police are looking into the 17-year-old’s potential gang affiliation.

Moonglow1: And the NRA wants more guns on the street and no background checks for gun purchases. Each day there is a shooting in Nashville. I guess these Tea Nuts who are in charge now could care less. They are more worried about the transgender population than the daily killings.

Moonglow1: We need a law to screen potential gun purchasers. TN is one of few states that does not have a law. Thereby it is possible we are selling guns to felons and terrorists. Otherwise I agree that Metro needs to clean up the streets.
