Nashville Electric Service said in a release early Friday afternoon that 50 NES and contract crews are working to restore power to about 3,400 customers still without power and affected by Thursday night’s thunderstorms.

NES said there are approximately 800 customers without power in the Old Hickory, Donelson and Murfreesboro Road areas, where crews are working to replace poles and lines.

NES crews are working to replace 40 broken poles elsewhere on the system. The utility said it is doing as much switching in the field as it can to restore power to as many customers as possible, but some customers who live in the vicinity of the downed poles will be without power until the poles can be replaced and all equipment and structures transferred.

The effort could take the majority of Friday, NES said.
