A 21-year-old man accused of murdering a man in the J.C. Napier homes is in Metro custody after being arrested in Florida on Feb. 26.
Cristofer Valentino was returned to Nashville last night from Pasco County, Fla., and is being held without bond pending a court appearance.
Valentino was arrested near Tampa and is charged with first-degree murder for the January shooting death of James Gatlin in the 600 block of Charles E. Davis Boulevard in the J.C. Napier public housing development.
Police said Valentino confessed to the shooting during an interview with Hermitage Precinct Detective Johnny Crumby last month in Florida.
Gatlin, 25, was shot multiple times after fighting with the cousin of Valentino’s girlfriend. According to witnesses, Valentino stood over Gatlin and continued to shoot him in the head.
The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation added Valentino to its Top 10 Most Wanted list in January.
