Metro police say a tip led to the arrest of a convicted bank robber in connection to the holdup of SunTrust’s downtown branch Monday afternoon.
Randall Malone, 57, was arrested Wednesday afternoon after a citizen reported hearing the man, who is homeless, boasting about the robbery, police said.
Detective Brent Fisher developed a photo lineup and Malone was positively identified as the robber.
Malone, who was convicted of robbing a Nashville bank in 2001 and sentenced to 65 months, was released in 2005. He also has previous burglary, larceny and receiving stolen property convictions.
He is charged federally with one count of bank robbery.
