Billy Ray Cyrus, the father of teenage pop entertainer, Miley Cyrus, filed for divorce Tuesday from his wife Leticia "Tish" Finley Cyrus, in Williamson County Chancery Court.
Mr. "Achy Breaky Heart" cited "irreconcilable differences" as the cause for the end of their 17-year marriage. He indicated the couple had been living separately for six months. It lists Billy Ray Cyrus's primary residence as Williamson County and his wife’s as Los Angeles.
He asked the court to award joint custody of their three children, which in addition to Miley (who will turn 18 next month), includes Braison Chance Cyrus, 16, and Noah Lindsey, 10. Cyrus also adopted Finley’s two children from a previous relationship.
Billy Ray Cyrus was married from 1986 to 1991 to Cindy Smith, co-writer of his hit song "Some Gave All."
