No one was hurt in an overnight fire at a north Nashville boarding house that forced 12 people out into the street early Thursday morning.

Fire crews responded to the fire on Jefferson Street near Fisk University around midnight Wednesday. They put the fire out quickly, but two units were badly damaged. Electricity was turned off to the entire building.

The Red Cross gave the residents a place to stay.
