A 12-year-old Franklin boy’s quick reaction kept a bad situation from getting much worse Wednesday afternoon, according to Franklin police.
As the boy and his 10-year-old brother rode along in a car driven by their mother just before 1 p.m. on Cool Springs Boulevard near Aspen Grove, she experienced a medical emergency and the car ran onto the shoulder of the road.
Police said the older boy pulled the emergency brake after the car ran over a street sign.
The car eventually stopped, 50 feet later, and no one was injured. The woman, whose name police didn’t release, was taken to a hospital for evaluation.
