Buyer seeks tenant for Russell Street building

The historic Russell Street Church of Christ in East Nashville may soon have a new owner. This comes almost three years after it was heavily damaged by the 1998 tornado.

But some residents of Historic Edgefield, where the church building has stood for a century, say any new owner could have a fight on his hands if plans to use the building for commercial purposes comes to pass.

March Egerton, who owns other property in East Nashville, said he is in the process of buying the church and is looking for a commercial tenant. But neighbors are uneasy about the prospect of new tenants, and any use of the building
