A tip to Crime Stoppers led to Thursday’s arrest of Denise Colon, 26, at a Freedom Drive residence, on outstanding warrants for her alleged involvement in three separate shoplifting incidents at the 6814 Charlotte Pike Target.

Colon is charged with theft, attempted theft and assault.

On Sept. 16, a uniformed Target loss prevention agent attempted to stop Colon as she allegedly pushed her shopping cart toward the exit without paying for the merchandise. Colon struck the agent before fleeing the store, police said. She left behind a small child, who was carried off by an unidentified female associate.

Police also have identified Colon as the person who allegedly took merchandise, including electronics and clothing, from the same Target location on Sept. 3 and again on Sept. 14.

Colon is being held in lieu of $10,500 bond.

The child needs to be taken away from such a reckless mother.
