Davis: The 'Heart and Soul' of Hillsboro Village

The Davis Cookware and Cutlery Shop in Hillsboro Village was closed for a couple days when Mary Lou Davis passed away last month at age 73 after a long battle with cancer. Wife, mother and businesswoman, Mary Lou was not a household name in some circles of Nashville.

But consider this. One of her sons, Ted Davis III, remembers driving slowly down Belmont Blvd. during the funeral procession.

When he turned onto Woodmont on his way to the cemetery, he saw more than 300 cars pulled over with their headlights turned on. Nashville is still a small town and it was mourning Mary Lou
