Judy Myrtle Smith, 92, died Jan. 16, 2001, at Livingston Regional Hospital. Born Sept. 25, 1908, she was preceded in death by husband Haskell Smith; parents, Joe and Leona Stout Hill; brother, Professor Marlin C. Hill; sister, Mrs Gewell (Ola) Pennington; son-in-law, Horace Dial; daughter-in-law, Peggy Buford Smith. Survivors include sons, Ed (Barbara) Smith and Frank (Wanda) Smith, both of Cookeville, Tenn; daughter, Nell (Walter) Dailey, Rickmand, Tenn.; grandchildren, Mike & Patricia Spicer, McMinnville, Tenn.; Jimmy & Becky Bilbrey, Rickman, Tenn.; Edward & Kathy Smith, Nashville, Tenn; two great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews and a great many dear friends. Mrs. Smith was a charter member of First Baptist Church in Rickman. Services will be held 11 a.m, Thursday, Jan. 18, at Rickman First Baptist Church, 260 Old Railroad Road, Livingston, Tenn. The Rev. Jeff Monday will officiate.

Vera Saylors, 100, died Jan. 16, 2001, at Mt. Juliet Nursing Home. She was born June 8, 1900, and was preceded in death by husband, Samual Casto Saylors; daughter, Helen Boyd. Survivors include son, Ralph (Jimmie) Saylors, Nashville, Tenn; daughter, Jo Harriet (Richard) Scarbrough, Fort Walton, Fla.; sisters, Fannie Stone, Sparta, Tenn.; Mary Kate Davis, Huntsville, Ala.; seven grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren. Mrs. Saylors was a member of Old Hickory United Methodist Church. Visitation with the family will be held from 2-4 and 6-9 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 17, followed by services 11 a.m., Thursday, Jan. 18, at Hibbett & Hailey Funeral Home, 429 Donelson Pike, Nashville. The Rev. Jim Norton will officiate. Interment will be at 1:30 p.m. at Old Zion Cemetery, Sparta, Tenn. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
