East Nashvillians will have two chances to watch Metro Council District 6 candidates Dave Rich and Peter Westerholm discuss issues at forums.

In what candidates dubbed a “joint statement,” Rich and Westerholm Thursday revealed the dates and locations of two forums leading up to the Sept. 15 runoff. Early voting begins Friday, Aug. 26.

The first forum, hosted by the Davidson County Young Democrats, is set for Monday, Aug. 29, at Eastwood Christian Church at 1601 Eastland Ave. It begins at 6 p.m. Outgoing Councilman Mike Jameson, who currently represents District 6, is moderating the forum.

The second forum, sponsored by People of God Organized, is slated for Thursday, Sept. 8, at the Village Church at 211 N. 11th St. It begins at 7 p.m.

“Other well-intended groups have worked to establish candidate forums for District 6 and others,” the joint statement reads. “However, as reflected above, these are the two candidate forums Dave Rich and Peter Westerholm will participate in during this year’s Runoff Election.”

Westerholm, who received the most votes in the Aug. 4 general election, has landed the endorsement of former candidate Hans Schmidt.

Ex-candidate Bob Borzak has backed Rich, who finished second. Jameson hasn’t endorsed either candidate.

Dave Rich easily won the last forum. I'm glad these have been planned. Voters need to see and hear what these candidates have to offer.

People of God Organized???...Zeus:???... Greek. King of the gods, equivalent of the Roman god Jupiter. The supreme ruler of Mount Olympus and of the Pantheon of gods who resided there.

NashNow, Dave Rich easily appeared more obnoxious in the last forum. I don't know how he will be able to work others in a 40 member council. People who read these comments need to know that you said people should vote for someone like "Dave Rich or Megan Berry", yet Megan Berry publicly supports Westerholm. She has chosen who she can work with.

Dear "WeekendLawnCareGuy,"

My point exactly. East Nashville does not need a popularity contest winner. East Nashville needs a strong and capable voice that doesn't mind being a little obnoxious if that's what it takes to represent this district. And that's why I'm voting for Dave Rich.

You heard it here folks. If you want to vote obnoxious for your community leader, vote Dave Rich!

lol...WeekendLawnCareGuy. You certainly seem to know a thing or two about obnoxious. Fortunately, the forums will give voters in the district a chance to see for themselves. Videos of the forums will probably be posted on YouTube as well. The one thing you said that I would agree with is, "vote Dave Rich!"
