Stephen Michael West is set to die in November, according to Thursday’s order by the Tennessee Supreme Court.

The court ruled stated that West’s appeal process is exhausted and therefore he is set to be executed at 10 p.m. on Nov. 9, 2010.

Despite West’s arguments that his sentence is unfair, that evidence supporting his case hasn’t been properly evaluated in court, that he is severely mentally ill, and that there was prosecutorial misconduct in his case, the court ruled West had presented no legal ground to deny the state’s motion to set an execution date.

In 1987, a jury convicted West of two counts of first-degree murder, two counts of aggravated kidnapping, one count of aggravated rape and one count of larceny in the deaths of Wanda Romines and her 15-year-old daughter, Sheila, in Union County.

BEOWULF: Insane? Criminally insane, probably, or just plan evil. Here we go again - 23 years the taxpayers have been saddled w/the upkeep of a quick death deserving ner-do-well. When is this bull.... gonna stop. Are the politicians, lawyers, and court officials getting rich with kickbacks from the privately run prisons? Sounds like it! Guilty of murder? Death in three years - plenty of time to appeal and rehash. Folks, we need a political with some sense to probe these long term death row stays. They are ridiculously long, not cost effective, and unfair to the victims' families. "Right to a speedy trial" should be followed by taxpayers' right to a quick injection.

what's wrong with you people ? here this man has lived 23 years longer then his victims, and you still haven't found a single person in this state to put him to death ! you would look at this a lot different if it was your mother and sister or a close family members ! I think the LAWERS, should have to pay the bill to keep these KILLERS ALIVE , not the TAX PAYERS ! If your found GUILTY, of MURDER beyond a reasonable doubt , you should be put to DEATH as soon as possible !

These people who want to just jail them and keep them alive in prison for life should have to pay for them to be put there and kept there not the TAX PAYERS ! It wouldn't take long before these bleeding hearts would start putting them to DEATH ! It wouldn't take long before these Bleeding Hearts, would start facing Reality , you don't keep MAD DOGS ALIVE, why people ! We have more people in jails and prisons in the UNITED STATES then all the other countries in the world !
