Former Glencliff High School math teacher Kyra Bryant surrendered to police Friday evening after a grand jury indicted her on four counts of statutory rape, stemming from an alleged relationship with a 17-year-old female student.

Metro police allege that Bryant, 29, developed a relationship with the teenager, who was a student in Bryant’s class, last fall. The City Paper first reported the alleged relationship last month.

In November, Bryant is alleged to have engaged in sexual contact with the victim at the teenager’s home while the girl’s parents were at work and also in Bryant’s classroom during school hours.

The police investigation began Feb. 8 after Glencliff officials received an anonymous letter indicating that there was a sexual relationship between Bryant and the victim.

Bryant, of 19th Avenue South, resigned from her teaching position shortly after the investigation began.

After reading this story, can you tell us whatever happened to the MBA teacher involved with boys from 2 schools? The police said they had opened an investigation but as expected, nothing else has ever been reported.

As far as the MBA teacher, that incident does seem to have dropped off the radar. Not too surprising, though. I may be proven wrong, but I often believe the greatest value for news media is the initial furor, public outrage, and scent of a scandal (their favorite aroma, I'm sure.)

After the primary shockwaves have subsided, until, and unless a trial resurrects public interest, with the possibility of all manner of lurid and tittilating details being revealed, I suspect there is little value for media to pursue the story.

This story, involving a female student and female teacher might receive additional attention to feed the public prurient interests.

My evil twin who succumbed to the lure of the dark side would be hanging on every word.

Our schools and youth organizations are infested with pedophiles and homosexual predators.

This young woman doesn't meet the criteria for a pedophile or a predator. I hope they drop the matter after she is fired.

Well, shadow, what is your evidence? Or did you just make a lazy comment because you could?

Here we go again! I'm so confused. The local Nashville media, in its "social engineering" zeal, has been telling us to accept homosexuals because they're normal folks and don't hurt anyone. Not true. Everything that goes on and through the homosexual's mind is SEX. Their entire deviant being is about SEX.

What is it about the homosexual lifestyle that is normal? The men hug, kiss, and engage in oral and anal sex with other men. Do they clean themselves afterwards? The women hug, kiss, and engage in oral and anal sex with other women. What is it about this life style that's NORMAL? Just writing this post almost makes me throw up.

I've come to the point where I believe that the only indivuals who believe the lifestyles of male and female homosexual is normal, are other homosexuals. If my hypothesis is true, the local Nashville media, and the Vanderbilt University professor staff must be swarming with deviant homosexuals. Well, maybe not all of the professors.

Unfortunately, as the homosexual lifestyle takes hold in our community, these acknowledgements will only increase. Ms. Bryant is not the only Nashville educator who has been uncovered, and she will not be the last. It makes you wander if this lifestyle will ever be embraced by Nashville's non-homosexuals. I hope not.

Mr. or Ms. Ummm, concerning your comment " Our comment pages are infested with idiots and morons." , you do realize that you're a participant on this comment page? I doubt if jsnap, Ask01, Shadow63, spooky24, NilsOrion, and myself, would agree with you. None of us know you, but if you say you're an idiot and moron, how can we argue with you?

Ok, listen. I was one of Ms.Bryant's algebra 2 students in her a4 class with my boyfriend and a few of my friends. And i will say that EVERYONE (every student, that is) knew of her relationship with (changing name of student) Maria. I knew. My friends knew. My boyfriend knew. Even the freshmen who are usually excluded from such exclusive gossip knew about the affair. Maira was, for lack of a more proper and less blunt term, a slut. And to make matters worse, shes the type of girl who kisses and tells the whole universe. So its not exactly suprising that someone became so very uncomfortable with the gossip and sent that anon letter. The disturbing part is that we knew they were "getting it on" during school hours. We all knew so we went to class, we santized our desks before doing any work. Their acts were completely revolting, but it wasnt any of our business to report it since Maria was soon to turn 18. We all figured the actions would stop aftr graduation.

And aI'm adding to my previous comment, Wasaw: Get a life. Sex and money is kinda what makes up our society. Homosexuals are absolutely no different than anyone else. In fact, I can almost garruntee that many of your friends have had some sort of homosexual or bisexual experience at some point in their life or will have one at some point. Its purely innocent and most person are BORN gay. Only about 70% of all homosexuals choose the life style. And as a matter of fact, my uncle is transsexual, his boyfriend is gay, my best friend is bisexual and my godfather is bisexual. And they are some of the most inspirational people I have ever met in my life. (Considering I'm well diverse in many cultures and do my best not to judge or be bias without knowing a person's exposition.)
