Staff reports

Parolee and robbery suspect Gregory Redden, 47, is in custody following a four-hour standoff with police in East Nashville Wednesday afternoon.

Police were attempting to arrest Redden in connection to an armed robbery Thursday at Sonic on Gallatin Pike.

Victims had identified Redden from a photo lineup, but when police tried to arrest him, he refused to come out of the house at 2623 Morganmeade Drive. After nearly four hours, he surrendered.

Redden is charged with aggravated robbery in the Sonic robbery. He is also suspected in a similar hold-up this weekend in Shelbyville.

Police said he was sentenced to 12 years for burglary and theft in 1999 and was paroled in 2007.
