A federal judge sentenced a former Franklin man to 12 years in prison for receiving and distributing child pornography over the Internet.

Chief District Judge Todd Campbell sentenced Scott Z. Myers, 28, last week after a Franklin police undercover online investigation in September of last year. Campbell ordered Myers to be supervised and monitored by a federal probation officer for the rest of his life following his prison term.

After searching Myers’ computer, police said they found multiple images of minors engaged in sexual activity. Myers was subsequently indicted, and pleaded guilty to child pornography charges in January 2010.

U.S. Attorney Jerry Martin announced the sentence Thursday.
