With the Gaylord Entertainment Center out of the picture, a group interested in moving the Vancouver Grizzlies to Nashville is exploring other options, including perhaps building its own facility somewhere in the Middle Tennessee area.

Jeff Baker, an executive with i-STAT, which makes high-tech medical equipment, and former Vanderbilt basketball player Drew Maddux, two of the prospective investors, revealed Wednesday on a local sports talk radio show that the group is investigating the possibility of purchasing a portion of the team from Grizzlies owner Michael Heisley and finding a temporary home for it in the Middle Tennessee area, while making arrangements for a permanent facility for the team.
