While executing a search warrant Tuesday night, police uncovered a marijuana distribution operation in Hermitage, seizing 12 guns in the process.
A complaint led members of the Metro police Specialized Investigations Division and the Gang Unit to 5017 Bonnavista Dr., where they found eight pounds of marijuana in brick form and the weapons, which included an AK-47-type rifle and a 12-gauge shotgun.
Police stopped the resident, Jonathan Andrew Campbell, 30, as he arrived to the scene. In his car were two loaded semi-automatic pistols and an extended 30-round magazine, according to police.
Officers said Campbell, after they read him his rights, also admitted to storing marijuana inside a safe at the home. There, police found four two-pound bricks and seven firearms, including an AR-15 rifle.
The AK-47 was found next to his bed along with a semi-automatic pistol in his nightstand, and a 12-gauge shotgun in between the mattress and box springs.
Police charged Campbell with possession of marijuana for resale in a drug-free school zone (he lives within 1,000 feet of Hermitage Elementary School), possession of drug paraphernalia, and a Crooks with Guns law violation. His bond was set at $40,000.
