The holiday season brings out serious decorative skills in some folks.

No doubt, Brenda and Victor Weatherby know their lights — enough, if the chance arose, to decorate the North Pole home of a certain red-suited and white-bearded chap.

The home of the Weatherbys, located at 6222 Henry Ford Drive in west Nashville, has been named the overall winner in the 2010 Ann Chapman Holiday Lights Competition.

The Weatherbys are one of five regional finalists in this year’s contest. The other regional winners are Buford Benson, 6575 Holt Road; Bob and Sheryl Kernodle, 207 Eldon Court;Jacqueline Rogers, 1800 Turner Street in Old Hickory; and Nathan Williams and Ashley Kish, 1117 Lipscomb Drive.

The annual Holiday Lights Competition is open to all Davidson County residents, and awards are made in each of the 35 Metro councilmanic districts.

The mayor’s office, the Metro Public Works Department, the Metro Beautification and Environment Commission, Nashville Electric Service and NewsChannel 5 co-sponsor the contest, one of Nashville’s longest-running holiday traditions.
