Metro Environmental Court fined pet owner Harold Stevenson $50 yesterday on animal cruelty charges after Metro Animal Services officials said Stevenson left his critically injured dog so that he could attend church.

Judge Gloria Dumas found Stevenson guilty of failing to take care of his dog after the animal was hit by a car. Police were the first to arrive at the scene of the accident. When Stevenson arrived, he refused to take care of his dog.
