Lakewood officials request names of those who voted in referendum

The City of Lakewood is planning to review the names of 905 people who voted in an election to surrender the satellite city’s charter earlier this week after asking the Davidson County Election Commission on Thursday for the list.

“There was so much voter fraud in the last election,” Lakewood City Manager Bobby Franklin said. “It’s a trust but verify thing for us. I think we have a duty to protect the other citizens who wanted to keep the city to at least look.”

On Tuesday, Lake citizens voted 458-447 to relinquish its charter and dissolve fully into Metro government.

It was the second referendum election on the same issue in a seven-month span. In August, the tally was 400-399 in favor of abandoning the charter, but results were thrown out because of voting irregularities, including the discovery that some voters weren’t registered in Lakewood.

“It would be too soon to tell,” Franklin said when asked whether the City of Lakewood Commission may pursue litigation. “They certainly know how –– don’t they? It’s all speculative. We’ve got to assume the election is fine.”

Albert Tieche, Davidson County’s elections administrator, confirmed the election commission received the request from Lakewood.

“We’re certainly willing to give that [information] as soon as we finish doing what we have to do here, as far as positing it all and getting it ready for them.” Tieche said.

“They want to go over that list and see if there’s people they believe are not residents of Lakewood who voted,” he said.

Tieche said he would be able to hand Lakewood the list as soon as Friday or early next week.

The election commission is set to certify Lakewood results on Monday, March 28.

The little twits that are losing their jobs are still trying to create as much mayhem as possible.

This is not about the citizens they claim to protect ; its all about their jobs and benifits that is costing us so much money in water bills and we get nothing in return. this community is falling apart because all the revenue is going for salaries, and benifits. Its time for Mr. Franklin to find himself another job, buy himself a car and see what it like to buy his own gas, so he can drive to and from Mt. Juliet to Lakewood to drain the citizens. And I guess the mayors wife will have to find a job to support she and her husband. Now we can see this city come alive and have services that we have not had in years. Metro has Qualified personnel who know what they are going so we the citizens can now reap the benifits that our sister community Old Hickory recieves.

Of COURSE they want the names of the people who voted in the election, so they can find out who voted AGAINST them and be little whiny bullies and harrass them. Anyone who thinks otherwise is a fool or a liar. I have lived in Nashville all my life, and Lakewood has ALWAYS been a sore spot and a blight on the city. Nothing but a little fiefdom where the Lakewood "poice" department ran roughshod over anyone they wished, writing traffic tickets to fill the ciy coffers. I say good riddance.

Corruption run amok. They can't even accept the fact they were voted OUT of office entirely. So sad.

Why am I picturing Karl Dean having to go over and forcefully removing the Lakewood Mob from their roost?
Face it guys, your corrupt little kingdom is gone -FOREVER.

He's a big guy--he could do it! And of course get national news coverage like Bell, California.

I'm with most of you. I think Lakewood should be part of Metro Nashville also. However, I don't have a problem with them reviewing the votes either.
