Lottery resolution approved; vote set for 2002

The state House of Representatives Wednesday validated a Senate joint resolution setting a popular referendum in November 2002 to establish a state lottery.

The resolution was concurred in by a vote of 80-15 after Rep. Chris Newton (R-Turtletown) fought off last-ditch arguments by anti-gambling representatives.
