Police arrested a Nashville man after they said he admitted to whipping his 2-year-old daughter with a belt for defecating in her pants.
On Monday afternoon, police arrested the 26-year-old father on charges of child abuse of a child 6 years old or less. He made bond that day and is set to appear in court on May 17.
After a weekend visit, the man's young daughter told her mother about the beating. When the mother called and asked him about the incident, which allegedly took place on March 13, he admitted hitting her with a belt, according to an affidavit.
After the mother took the child to Summit Medical Center to be examined, police were called to investigate. The affidavit states that police photographed bruising to both of the victim’s lower legs.
According to police, when they showed the photographs to the father, he said he had caused the injuries.
The City Paper does not reveal names in legal proceedings that could identify underage victims of a crime.
