Martin David Duncan, the man involved in a shooting that killed his girlfriend’s brother Sunday, now faces an aggravated assault charge for allegedly shooting and wounding her mother.

An ongoing argument between Duncan, 45, and the family of his girlfriend, Christina Sanders, apparently led to a shooting in which Travis L. Massey, 23, was killed and Vicki L. Brown, 55, was wounded. The shooting happened around 5:30 p.m. Sunday evening at Duncan’s 49th Avenue North residence. Massey died at the scene.

Detectives on Monday morning charged Duncan with felony aggravated assault for allegedly wounding his girlfriend’s mother outside his home at 713 49th Avenue North.

According to police, Duncan admitted firing his 12-gauge shotgun during the argument and detectives are investigating Duncan’s claim that he did so in self -defense.

Duncan, 45, is jailed in lieu of $50,000 bond.

Brown was being treated at Vanderbilt University Medical Center for a shotgun wound to her hip and pelvis area, according to police.
