The man police suspect committed two hold-ups early Wednesday morning is the same man charged with allegedly robbing two Walgreens pharmacies in November.

Metro police said Justin Hoppe, 23, was free on a $20,000 bond for the November robberies when police believe he robbed the Walgreens at 5555 Edmonson Pike just after midnight Tuesday before attempting to rob the Mapco at 1516 Gallatin Pike at 4:20 a.m.

At the Walgreens Wednesday morning, Hoppe allegedly indicated he had a gun, and a pharmacist complied with his request to hand over prescription medications.

Later Hoppe, according to police, demanded money from the Mapco clerk. But when the clerk showed him there was no money in the drawer, he fled the scene in a Mercury Grand Marquis.

A witness followed the vehicle and relayed its position to police before losing sight of it. Police later found the vehicle parked in front Hoppe’s home on Edwards Avenue, where police said they also found pills taken from the Walgreens.

Police charged Hoppe with aggravated robbery and attempted aggravated robbery. He is being held in lieu of $100,000 bond.
