A resident of the Hermitage apartment complex where fire destroyed 10 units and damaged 10 more is behind bars this morning for allegedly starting the fire, Metro Police said.

Robert Silbert, who lived in unit 309 at the Arbours of Hermitage on Old Hickory Boulevard near Nashville Shores, faces aggravated arson charges for allegedly setting fire to his mattress.

The fire started just after 9 p.m. Monday in unit 309 and spread to units 308 through 317.

All of the residents were able to get out of the units before crews arrived.

Firefighters had the blaze under control in less than an hour, but were called back to the scene at 5 a.m. Tuesday to put out a hot spot that had reignited.

The Nashville Red Cross was called to the scene to help the displaced residents find places to stay.

Silbert is being held on $150,000 bond.
