Metro homicide detectives believe they have identified the man who murdered 23-year-old Ricardo Torres one year ago, on Feb. 18, 2010.

A Juvenile Court issued an order for the arrest of Wincy Leonel Gutierrez, 18, who was 17 when he allegedly shot Torres, 23, outside of a party on Karen Drive last February. The arrest order charges Gutierrez with criminal homicide and unlawful gun possession.

Currently, Gutierrez is in an Albuquerque, N.M., jail for theft and vandalism, but Metro police expect him to be returned to Nashville.

According to the murder investigation, a gang issue may have led to an argument between Gutierrez and Torres outside of the party.

The two, who were believed to be in the same Hispanic gang, ended up in a nearby wooded area at the end of the street. There, Gutierrez allegedly shot Torres and returned to the party. A woman looking for her lost dog found Torres’ body four days later.
