The convicted felon suspected of threatening a beauty store clerk with a box cutter and trying to steal a cash register last month is in custody.
Metro police arrested James Beach, 36, Tuesday night on a previously issued warrant charging him with attempted aggravated robbery in the incident.
Beach, who was arrested at a home on Hemlock Avenue, is suspected of allegedly demanding the cash from a clerk at Diva’s Beauty Supply at 5751 Old Hickory Blvd.
According to police, the two engaged in a struggle before Beach tried to run off with the register. He was unsuccessful.
Police said Beach has 29 prior arrests on a variety of charges and has been convicted of aggravated assault, aggravated burglary, theft, domestic assault, evading arrest, harassment and drug possession.
