The Metro police bomb squad is responding to a call of a suspicious item at the Nashville Marriot at Vanderbilt University.
The initial call came in 12:49 p.m. Wednesday reporting the suspicious item at the hotel, located at 2555 West End Ave. and next to the VU football stadium. The police bomb squad unit was called to the scene to investigate about 10 minutes after the first call.
In the early afternoon, about 25 police vehicles, some from Vanderbilt's police force, were on the scene. Natchez Trace at West End Avenue was closed, with the street segment later reopening.
Police left the scene about 3:20, determining there to be nothing harmful. In addition, authorities are not treating the incident as a criminal matter.
