Sue Cain, director of the Metro Department of Law since the fall of 2007, has filed to apply for her pension effective Oct 1., Metro Human Resources spokeswoman Robin Brown told The City Paper Wednesday.
Cain could not be reached for comment. A Metro legal department aide said she is on vacation.
Cain, previously the department’s deputy, took the position in 2007 after the election of Mayor Karl Dean, who formerly held the position throughout Bill Purcell’s mayoral administration.
The law director serves as Metro’s chief authority on legal matters involving the city government.
Dean, assuming he defeats three long-candidates and wins re-election in August, would be tasked with appointing the new legal director.
Mike Safely currently serves as deputy of the legal department.
Not long as the full director, maybe the Mayor wants a change of scenery in his
ole covey hole! Best wishes to anyone able to retire.
David Torrence is available!
Why wait til October, do it now!
bfra - I agree, Marv Levy, the former NFL coach was once quoted as saying "if you announce you are going to retire, you already have."
A Citizen
I hope her replacement has a heart - and more legal savvy.
Cain's legal savvy didn't matter, she did as Karl told her!
It is so appropriate that her name is SUE!
