Lon F. “Sonny” West — a Metro government institution for almost 56 years — died Saturday of cancer. He was 73.

West started working for Davidson County on June 1, 1955, before moving on to Metro after the 1963 city-county merger.

West most recently served within the Metro Department of Codes and Building Safety as the administrator of Metro’s zoning ordinance. He supervised permits and zoning examinations, and maintained public records for the department.

A Vanderbilt University Law School graduate, West was a long-time Bellevue resident.

Recently, the Metro Council voted to name the auditorium at the rehabbed Howard Office Building in West’s honor.

West is survived by his wife, Barbara, three sons, one daughter and two stepdaughters.

Visitation and memorial service arrangements are pending.

West.
Isn't he the one responsible for the Jim Reeves house being illegally demolished? How much bribe did he get from Home Depot?

Kosh III, you and TeeBagger are the two most sick individuals out there. Is this the way you would like for your family to be treated when your time is up? Your maker will deal with you when the time comes and may you burn for eternity.
