Eight law enforcement vehicles were burglarized this week, and police have named a suspect connected to one of the incidents and two additional auto burglaries.
Metro police reported Wednesday that Edward L. Luna was linked by forensic evidence to a Monday burglary of a marked police car outside a sergeant’s home. The sergeant’s computer was damaged and a shotgun was stolen.
Luna is also suspected of burglarizing another vehicle the same night, and a third at Percy Warner Park in June.
Seven other law enforcement vehicles were burglarized between Monday and Wednesday, including four other Metro police cars, one Davidson County Sheriff’s Office car, one Metro Parks Police car and one Greenbrier Police car.
Weapons and other equipment were taken, and police report that some of the stolen goods have been recovered.
Police suspect that two wanted men are in Luna’s company, including Kevin Tidwell, 19, a convicted auto burglar, and Austin Dodd, 17, who is wanted for escaping from state authorities in April.
