Police arrested a west Nashville woman for criminal homicide late Monday after her newborn son was found dead in March.
Metro Police Department Youth Services detectives caught up with Rachel Meadows, 27, on 54th Avenue North Monday night. She is being held on $250,000 bond.
A citizen notified the department that a baby had been born in a Maudina Avenue apartment and that it might be dead. When officers arrived they found the dead newborn wrapped in a pair of pants under a crib.
Police said Meadows has acknowledged giving birth to the baby the day before, and she said the child whimpered before she covered it with a blanket. The medical examiner confirmed the baby was born alive.
