Magnet school children in the Bordeaux area who ride public transportation may have to find another way to get to school starting in April.

The Metro Transit Authority, which currently provides bus service for children attending magnet schools, has decided to switch to a vanpool service after March. But it will be up to the parents to find their own drivers.

Ending the service could have a devastating affect on the number of children from Bordeaux attending magnet schools, said Metro council member Brenda Gilmore. Gilmore said there are more than 200 magnet school students in that part of the county. Only a small number of them ride public transportation.
