Metro police have arrested a Nashville man for allegedly beating his ailing wife with a beer bottle, according to court records.

John Adam Brewer II posted bond on Feb. 6 and has been charged with abuse or neglect of an impaired adult, a Class-C felony.

According to a warrant, Brewer's sister-in-law told police her bedridden sister — who had been recovering from recent heart surgery — showed signs of abuse. Upon investigation, police found Brewer's wife intimidated and reluctant to talk about what had happened. There were 40-ounce beer bottles around her bed. She had a large bruise on her right thigh.

As well, police said she feared her husband might kill her.

The warrant calls the house on Gourley Road "a total mess" and notes that trash was abundant.

What will it take to put this piece of trash in jail and insure the humane treatment of the lady recovering from her surgery? We need more than a health care plan. WE need a humane care plan.

In all honesty, probably to go buy some more 40s. Now you sleep tight now.
