Nashville, mid-state under winter weather advisory through Saturday morning

The National Weather Service in Nashville has issued a winter weather advisory in effect from 6 p.m. Friday to noon Saturday for northern Middle Tennessee and the Cumberland Plateau.

A low-pressure system is expected to move into Middle Tennessee from the north on Friday afternoon bringing rain that will likely turn to light snow Friday night.

Snow accumulations of around one inch are possible with the Cumberland Plateau getting as much as two inches before the system moves out of the area Saturday morning, according to the NWS.

The counties included in the advisory are Stewart, Montgomery, Robertson, Sumner, Macon, Clay, Pickett, Benton, Houston, Humphreys, Dickson, Cheatham, Davidson, Wilson, Trousdale, Smith, Jackson, Putnam, Overton, Fentress, Rutherford, Cannon, DeKalb, White, Cumberland, Coffee, Warren, Grundy, and Van Buren.
