Feuds between roommates over missing possessions are nothing new, but they don’t often escalate to court — and certainly not national TV.

But that’s exactly where former Nashville roommates Ashley Stafford and Amy Lemoine will be Thursday afternoon. The two will appear on an episode of nationally syndicated, reality courtroom series Judge Joe Brown.

Stafford, 20, is suing Lemoine, 21, for $1,528 — the value of her Dell laptop computer.

Stafford says the defendant admitted one of her drunken friends may have stolen her laptop so she offered to buy the plaintiff a new one but then reneged. Lemoine says she doesn’t owe because she didn’t see anyone take it; therefore, she’s not responsible.

Find out what Judge Joe Brown thinks about the situation Thursday, May 13 at 4 p.m. Watch it locally on WUXP (MyTV 30.) Check local listings at or

I'm no lawyer but I think this is pretty cut and dry....Lemoine didn't take the laptop, and unless she was somehow responsible for her friend who supposedly did, she isn't responsible to pay. They need to confront the drunk friend, and Stafford needs to have a bit better of a case than she told me so....

jvh2b, you need to be a judge; sounds like you could be a Supreme Court judge with your intuition and critical thinking skills.

This sounds like a sure fire loser for the plaintiff.
