A three-car wreck on Briley Parkway Thursday morning left a 69-year-old Nashville woman in critical condition.

Metro police said a Nissan Xterra driven by Christopher Hunter, 18, hit Shirley Neal’s Ford Taurus from behind at 7:30 a.m. causing her vehicle to crash head on into the concrete barrier.

Hunter, of Mt. Juliet, was attempting to change lanes when his Xterra, which didn’t have a passenger side rearview mirror, struck the driver’s side of a Dodge Durango driven by Jamie Beatrice, 34, of Desplane Drive.

The Xterra then traveled across the roadway, hitting Neal’s vehicle.

Neal, of Hamilton Avenue, was listed in critical condition at Vanderbilt University Medical Center early Thursday evening, according to police.

All three drivers were wearing their seatbelts. Hunter and Beatrice were not injured.
