Nashville Electric Service will close its North Nashville bill-payment office at 901 Monroe St., on Dec. 31, officials announced on Monday.
NES President & CEO Decosta Jenkins said the rent and other costs were too significant considering the amount of customer traffic passing through location gets little to no traffic on most days.
Jenkins added that no employees would lose their job at the office but the Monroe Street workers would move to the NES main office at 1214 Church Street.
NES officials said their plan is to eventually install a bill-payment kiosk at the Monroe Street location.
Bill-paying kiosks are also located in most Exxon and Mapco stores, including the following locations within a two-mile radius of the North Nashville office.
Nearby Exxon bill-pay kiosks: 1401 Charlotte Ave.; 1111 Broadway; and 2022 Rosa L. Parks Blvd.
Nearby Mapco bill-pay kiosks: 6624 Charlotte Ave.; 4211 Charlotte Ave.; and 801 Jefferson St.
Another nearby bill-pay kiosk is at the 18th Avenue Shell at 1918 D.B. Todd Blvd.
