Metro Public Works has closed a section of Granny White Pike half a mile north of old Hickory Boulevard after discovering a cave-in around a culvert.
According to Public Works spokesperson Gwen Hopkins-Glascock, crews are beginning to replace a 60-inch diameter metal pipe, which failed during the floods of early May, with a concrete pipe.
The stretch of Granny White will be closed until at least Friday night. A detour route has been set up, but motorists have been advised to avoid the road entirely.
