Metro police arrested Tuesday night convicted felon Tyree Chaney, 53, for allegedly burglarizing Advance Financial at 1128 Murfreesboro Pike.

Hermitage Precinct Officer Michael Ryan responded to an alarm Tuesday night at the business at 11 p.m. The building appeared to be secure, but when Ryan went to check the front he allegedly spotted Chaney inside. Chaney surrendered without incident.

Police said a black bag containing more than $36,000 was recovered by the back door of the neighboring business, V Nails.

Police said Chaney allegedly entered Advance Financial through a hole he cut in the drywall that separated the two businesses.

Chaney, of Arbor Creek Way, was charged with burglary, theft of property and possession of burglary tools. He has previous convictions for burglary, grand larceny, theft, unlawful weapon possession and receiving stolen property.

Chaney is being held in lieu of $45,000 bond.
