North Precinct officers on Friday night arrested 17-year-old Damonta Meneese on a charge of criminal homicide for Thursday night’s shooting death of Damium Rosenthal on a sidewalk outside apartments at 2400 Buena Vista Pike.

Flex officers arrested Meneese on Ashton Avenue shortly after Detective Billy Jackson obtained an arrest order for him at Juvenile Court. Jackson’s investigation led to a witness who identified Meneese as the gunman in Rosenthal’s murder.

Rosenthal was shot during an argument. He was taken to a local hospital where he later died. The exact motive remains under investigation.

Witnesses reported seeing Rosenthal arguing with at least three other people on the sidewalk near the Cumberland Pointe Apartments when he was shot multiple times just after 9 p.m. Thursday.

Metro Police earlier reported they were looking for three suspects involved in the shooting. It is unclear whether officers are pursuing suspects other than Meneese.

Where is all the anti-gun people. I don't see any slamming these kids for having a gun and actually shooting someone. Bring up the guns in bars law and they come out of the woodwork to slam a law abiding citizen.
