The suspected accomplice of a man accused of raping an 11-year-old girl and robbing her family is in jail, police announced Wednesday.
Police arrested Rony Sorto, 23, on Nov. 30 for allegedly shooting a gun out of a moving car on Interstate 440. Sorto now stands accused of being involved in at least four robberies, one of which involved the sexual assault of two women while another involved the rape of the young girl.
In all, 26-year-old Olbin Euceda, whom police believe Sorto helped, faces 12 counts of aggravated robbery, two counts of aggravated rape and one count of child rape. Police arrested Euceda on Nov. 22 and he remains in jail with a federal immigration hold placed on him.
Arrest warrants charge Sorto with two counts of aggravated robbery. He’s also been charged in the Nov. 20 robbery at the Overlook apartment complex on Bell Road during which Euceda allegedly raped the 11-year-old daughter of the robbery victims.
According to police, Sorto admitted to being involved in other cases as well, and is expected to face additional charges. He too has been placed under a federal immigration hold.
