West Precinct officers, with the assistance of alert citizens and a police helicopter, apprehended two teenage home burglary suspects on Thursday.
Police said a neighbor reported seeing the two, ages 15 and 17, break into a home in the 6600 block of Upton Lane at 11 a.m. Another citizen, who also saw the alleged break-in, chased them until a police helicopter spotted one of the teens. Pilot Johnny Hansel guided a ground officer to the teen.
The second teen was taken into custody nearby.
Police recovered jewelry and a 26-inch flat screen television, which were allegedly taken from the home.
West detectives are investigating whether the two are responsible for other burglaries in the area.
The 15-year-old was marked absent from school Thursday, but the 17-year-old’s name was not reflected as a current Metro student.
